Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport la
242 PM CDT Sat Sep 6 2008

Discussion...
cloud remnants of Gustav just exiting eastern portions of area...
with some leftover cloud debris...mainly extreme north...closer to
southern edge of seasonally strong westerlies aloft. Dewpoints
mainly in lower 60s...and with decent radiation cooling
conditions...should see lows falling to middle 60s tonight.
Cool front will move to northen OK by Monday afternoon. Expect
mostly isolated afternoon convection under increasing instability and
precipitable waters near 2 inches. The actual front should induce scattered convection...
later Monday night into Tuesday. Dominating northerly flow and
drier air therafter so removed probability of precipitation remainder of week. Added isolated
for weekend...to account for a possible brush with Hurricane
Ike. European model (ecmwf) will take it into south Texas...which may be too far south
of area to affect our weather if solution holds. However...some other
tracks suggest a closer approach./Vii/

&&

Aviation...

VFR conditions area wide...except patchy MVFR visibilities in fog around
sunrise. Light NE winds to continue through this evening...but
gradually becoming southeast across most of East Texas and western
Louisiana by 12z Sunday.
