NWS Forecaster Discussion
408 fxus64 kmeg 061948 afdmeg Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Memphis Tennessee 248 PM CDT Sat Sep 6 2008 Discussion... Skies have finally cleared out across most of the forecast area this afternoon but the delay in clearing has kept temperatures in the 70s. A small area of showers continues to move along the Missouri/Arkansas border which might clip the northwest part of the forecast area but any rain which might fall from that will be very light. High pressure will build into the region tonight and remain in place for the next couple of days. By Sunday...skies should be mostly sunny which should allow temperatures to warm up into the 80s. Monday should be a repeat of Sunday with temperatures approaching 90 degrees. A cold front will approach the region Monday night bringing a small chance of thunderstorms ahead of it. The cold front moves through the forecast area on Tuesday so there will be a chance of thunderstorms. High pressure builds back into the region for Tuesday night which will bring a return of dry weather for Tuesday night...Wednesday and Wednesday night. By Thursday...another cold front approaches the region bringing a small chance of rain on Thursday and a better chance of rain for Thursday night and Friday. By Friday...all eyes will be on the Gulf of Mexico as Hurricane Ike approaches. Still hard to tell exactly where Ike will make landfall but it should have some affect on weather for Friday and Saturday. && Preliminary point temps/pops... mem 65 88 70 91 / 0 10 10 10 mkl 56 87 62 89 / 0 10 10 10 jbr 59 85 64 89 / 0 10 10 10 tup 62 89 65 91 / 0 10 10 10 && Meg watches/warnings/advisories...
