Synopsis...weakening high pressure will allow sea breezes to bring 
cooling...moisture and patchy low clouds and fog during the nights 
and mornings west of the mountains. Weak offshore flow will return 
for Friday and Saturday keeping the marine layer shallow and any 
cloud cover limited. Moisture and periods of high clouds will 
gradually return late in the weekend and early next week ahead of a 
developing trough over the east Pacific. Otherwise it will remain 
dry with temperatures at or slightly above seasonal averages.

Discussion...for southwest California including San Diego... 
Orange...southwest San Bernardino and West Riverside counties. 


Onshore flow will become fully developed today through Thursday as a 
shortwave trough slides by to the north. Coastal areas will see a 
huge change today as moist Pacific air returns...holding maximum temperatures 
almost ten degrees lower. The marine layer and associated moistening 
and cooling should reach maximum for inland areas on Thursday. Weak to 
moderate offshore flow is still expected Friday and Sat. Though fire 
danger will be elevated...no Fire Weather Watch is anticipated at 
this time. Look for fair and mild conditions through the weekend. 
Onshore flow and cooler weather return early next week. Models 
indicate slow development and eastward movement of a large trough 
over the east Pacific towards our area next week. The low could cause 
cool showery weather with light amounts of rain Wednesday-Friday of next week.

Aviation... 
190900z...marine layer may seep into the coast this morning but it 
appears that it will remain clear through today. If it does move 
in...it would be dense fog along the coast and probably move in 
around sunrise. Any fog should clear quickly by 16z. Fog/stratus 
more likely to show up tonight with dense fog into the coastal 
airports as onshore flow Cranks up this afternoon and more on 
Thursday. Models indicate that fog may begin to move into the coast 
and may affect near coastal airports by this afternoon. Coastal eddy 
forecast to develop this morning and increase through Thursday with 
the marine layer increasing Thursday.
