Discussion... 
strong ridge of high pressure over the west continues to slowly 
shift east ahead of a deep trough over the Gulf of Alaska. A strong 
shortwave trough rotating around the low will lift out toward the 
Pacific northwest later today and move onshore Thursday. Some 
patches of fog again early this morning across portions of the 
Central Valley and moutain valleys. Expect that temperatures will 
cool a bit more today as high cloudiness increases and low-level 
onshore flow increases. The shortwave trough will move inland to our 
north on Thursday...but still appears that far northern California 
will see a slight chance for some light showers during the day. The 
system scoots eastward by later Thursday with flat high pressure 
remaining over northern California into the weekend as several more 
waves pass by further to the north. Still very little certainty on 
the forecast beyond day 5 as models remain inconsistent with 
solutions next week.

Aviation... 
high pressure over the area is shifting eastward out of the area 
with high clouds moving in from the Pacific. Patchy fog is 
developing this morning from the Bay and through the Delta to ksac. 
This has brought IFR and briefly LIFR to ksac since 10z. Expect fog 
to spread to ksmf over the next few hours. Fog/br is also developing 
over the northern San Joaquin Valley. Fog in the Central Valley will 
diminish by around 17-18z. VFR conditions with generally light winds 
expected for the rest of today into tonight.
