Discussion... 


Upper ridge is still in control of the regions weather and will 
continue to see temperatures well above normal and even near 
record highs. The onshore flow that is trying to set up is still 
very weak...however the marine layer is deepening. The record for 
Fresno is 80 degrees and for bfl is 83. 


A dry front will push through the region on Thursday with 
significant cooling across the area. The ridge will break down 
temperatures will drop around 15 degrees across the board. Some high and 
middle clouds will briefly move across the area with the front but 
no precipitation is expected at this time. A secondary front will brush the 
northern California area on Saturday. The epac ridge will build back on Sunday 
and Monday and warm the region up again to above normal values. 


The GFS is starting to line up a little more with the European model (ecmwf) 
concerning the approaching trough on Wednesday. Have introduced 
probability of precipitation based on climatology for day 7. Confidence still remain uncertain 
concerning timing and intensity.

Aviation...areas of MVFR in haze and mist in the San Joaquin 
Valley...with local IFR through 17z Wednesday. Otherwise VFR 
conditions will prevail over the central California interior 
through 12z Thursday.

Air quality issues... 
on Wednesday November 19 2008... unhealthy for sensitive groups in 
Kern County. Fireplace/wood stove burning is prohibited in 
Kern... Kings and Merced counties.
