Synopsis...an upper ridge continued across Florida and the Gulf. A 
surface ridge was across central Florida and the adjacent coastal 
waters while well to the south Tropical Storm Gustav tracked over 
the Caribbean Sea. 


Please see the latest advisories being issued by the National 
Hurricane Center for details on Gustav. Residents and visitors 
should continue to closely monitor the progress of this system 
through the upcoming weekend and early next week.

Discussion...a little more active this afternoon compared to 
yesterday but well behaved with only a couple of special weather 
statements. A couple of outflows are still producing convection in 
west Polk and east Hillsborough but are winding down. Will update 
grids/forecast when these end...most likely before 10 PM. 
Otherwise no changes for tonight.

Aviation...a few thunderstorms and rain next 2-3 hours then VFR overnight through 
early Friday afternoon.

Marine...northwest winds on Gulf waters in the process of turing to the 
north and NE for tonight as reflected in the current forecast. The 
next issuance will be around 930 PM with the only change being to 
end the evening thunderstorms in Tampa Bay by midnight.
