..dense fog expected overnight for some areas... 


Update... 
dense fog is the only concern tonight. All variables are coming 
together for what looks to be quite a foggy night and foggy 
commute to work in the morning. Dense fog is expected in some 
areas. Widespread dense fog is possible. Contemplated issuing a 
dense fog advisory but would rather wait until it becomes more 
clear exactly which areas will need one. 


High pressure resides overhead. Skies are clear and winds are for 
the most part calm across the region. Dewpoints are rather 
high...especially along the East Coast (in the upper 60s). These 
conditions are ideal for fog development. This situation will be 
monitored through the night and dense fog advisories will be 
issued as needed. Any fog will linger through the morning commute 
so motorists will need to use extra caution and allow plenty of 
extra time to reach their destination. 


Thursday will be a hot October day...upper 80s to near 90. This is 
roughly 10f above the averages and close to record values. The 
record in jax is 90f set in 1925. Light flow will allow a 
seabreeze to develop early in the day...so this will probably 
prevent jax from setting a record. Although it could come close. 
No rain is expected tomorrow. 


Grids have all of this handled well...including the fog. No 
updates are planned at this time.

Aviation...anticipate widespread br/fog tonight after 06z at all 
terminals. Onshore flow will bring low level moisture to coastal taf 
sites and think these will be most likely area to drop to LIFR 
although gnv will probably briefly flirt with LIFR. Fog will 
likely lift slowly into a low scattered-broken stratus around 13z Thursday.

Marine...winds/seas have decreased this evening with seas running 
3-4 feet. Quiet conditions will continue over the waters through 
Sat...then Post frontal north-northeast surge expected to raise Small Craft Advisory flags by 
early Sunday.
