NWS Forecaster Discussion
097 fxus65 kboi 062015 afdboi Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Boise Idaho 215 PM MDT Sat Sep 6 2008 Short term...northwesterly flow aloft will continue over our County Warning Area through Monday. A flat short wave trough moving southeastward from northern British Columbia will spread clouds across Valley County late tonight. Trough will continue southeastward through Montana and Wyoming Sunday. Northwesterly winds will increase in our zones late tonight and Sunday both at the surface and aloft. Trough will also keep the main Pacific upper ridge from expanding eastward. Min temperatures tonight and Sunday night will be close to mav MOS...but maximum temperatures Sunday and Monday will be 2-4 degrees cooler than mav MOS and closer to met MOS values. Long term...Monday night through Saturday...shortwave trough will approach the intermountain west late Monday/early Tuesday for lowering heights and a breakdown of the upper level ridge. Shortwave will dig southeast across north Idaho Tuesday evening. Models continue to forecast moisture northeast of our area for only slight chances of precipitation across the west central mountains Wednesday morning. Main impact will be gusty west/northwest winds on Tuesday and Wednesday...as cyclonic middle-level flow enhances diurnal surface winds. Temperatures will trend back to near normal Thursday through Saturday as trough tracks eastward and allows western Continental U.S. Ridge to regain strength. && Aviation...widespread VFR under mostly sunny skies. Light surface winds. Light northwesterly winds aloft. Sunday...widespread VFR. Light surface winds with localized gusts to 25 kts between 21z and 03z. && Boi watches/warnings/advisories... Idaho...none. Or...none. && $$ Weather.Gov/Boise Short term...lc long term....Mt aviation.....Mt
