Movement of this activity was toward the northeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Through 6:45 PM...occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms will remain possible in association with an upper level disturbance moving through the region. NWS Forecaster Discussion
296 fxus64 ktsa 212320 afdtsa Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tulsa OK 620 PM CDT Thursday Aug 21 2008 Discussion... && Aviation... localized IFR ceilings and MVFR visibilities in isolated thunderstorms will continue mainly across the northwest Arkansas taf sites through 02z...VFR conditions are expected...however MVFR visibilities in fog may develop after 10z. VFR conditions expected after 14z. Isolated thunderstorms after 20z across southeast OK and northwest are expected. && Previous discussion... /issued 345 PM CDT Thursday Aug 21 2008/ Discussion... scattered showers and thunderstorms across mainly northwest Arkansas and far eastern Oklahoma will mostly dissipate by sunset with the loss of heating. The models have trended towards more ridging over the area during the next week than what they were showing yesterday so diurnal convection should be less numerous than previously thought. Will keep some low probability of precipitation each day through Monday with no mention of rain at night. Diurnal convective chances diminish even further beyond Monday so will continue the dry forecast in the Tuesday through Thursday timeframe. Temperatures will also be a bit warmer with a more dominant upper ridge and will be very near the seasonal normals for the entire forecast period. Will still go a bit cooler than the GFS MOS for daytime maximums and at or above the GFS MOS for minimums the next several days. && Tsa watches/warnings/advisories... OK...none. Arkansas...none. && $$ Short term...99 long term....99 aviation...23
