Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Medford or
142 PM PDT Wednesday Oct 15 2008

Discussion...high pressure will build tonight through Thursday.
A weak warm front skims the north Oregon coast bringing a fairly
slim chance for rain along Coos County Thursday. The ridge slides
east Thursday night with a weak cold front moving slowly into the
area Friday night and Saturday. This front will bring a slim shot
for rain to the Coos-Douglas region with only some increasing
clouds elsewhere. Benign weather to follow through Sunday.

Monday remains the main story and the European and GFS have come
more in line with a solution of a strong cold front making
landfall early Monday and progressing through the region with
widespread rain through Monday night. Some accumulating snow looks
likely across the mountains...with snow levels falling to between
5000-6000 feet late Monday afternoon or evening...and down to near
4000 feet as precipitation tapers off Monday night. Gusty south winds will
precede the front over the coast region...mountains and east.
Perhaps a few showers lingering into early Tuesday but most likely
warmer and dry weather to follow into middle week with a ridge
rebounding.

&&

Aviation...VFR weather to prevail through evening...then patchy
IFR or MVFR low clouds and fog should return to the coast and
Umpqua overnight after 10z.

&&

Mfr watches/warnings/advisories...
or...none.

California...frost advisory from 3 am to 9 am PDT Thursday for caz080-caz081-
caz082.

Pacific coastal waters...none.
