Discussion... 
weak upper level high pressure remains over the midsouth this 
afternoon providing quiet weather to the area. These conditions will 
continue into tonight. Cumulus will dissipate during the evening leaving 
clear skies. Patchy fog will likely develop again as it has the last 
several nights. Lows will be in the middle 60s to lower 70s. 


On Friday...a cold front will move into the County Warning Area from the north. The 
front will bring chances of showers and thunderstorms...mainly to 
northern sections of the midsouth. Highs will be in the upper 80s to 
lower 90s. 


The front will eventually sag south Friday night into Saturday. 
Ongoing showers and thunderstorms from Friday afternoon will 
eventually die off Friday from the loss of daytime heating and 
refire along the front on Saturday. Don/T expect much change with 
regards to temperature behind the front. 


Saturday night into early Monday...expect tranquil weather as weak 
upper level high pressure will remain over the County Warning Area ahead of an 
approaching tropical system. Highs will remain around 90 with lows 
in the middle 60s to middle 70s. 


By Monday...all eyes will begin to watch the approach of Gustav 
which is likely to be a hurricane at this point. Gustav is currently 
forecasted to make landfall on the Louisiana coast Tuesday morning. 
Outer bands from Gustav could possibly begin affecting southern 
portions of the County Warning Area as early as Monday. However...this could easily 
change depending on exact track and speed of Gustav. Some models 
bring Gustav up into southern Arkansas tracking through east 
Arkansas into southern Missouri during the Wednesday through 
Thursday time frame. This could bring heavy rain and chances for 
severe weather to the County Warning Area. Forecast from Monday through Thursday 
could change a lot over the next couple of days depending on how 
Gustav tracks. Please stay tuned to future forecasts for updates on 
how Gustav will affect the midsouth throughout the Holiday weekend.
