Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas
1201 PM CDT Sat Sep 6 2008

Aviation...
tafs this cycle will be VFR with south-southeasterly winds 10kts or
less. Some low level moisture will develop into cumulus around 4 or
5 kft during the afternoon. 75

Update...
103 am CDT.
We have edited the grids...such that the new grids are more in line
with the current observations. 26

Previous discussion... /issued 411 am CDT Sat Sep 6 2008/
North Texas will remain between a broad upper level trough over
the northern half of the country and a ridge off the southeast U.S.
Coast. This pattern will keep conditions dry and relatively quiet
through much of next week.

The only real weather makers over the next week will be a few
weak cold fronts. The first cold front...currently draped across
southern Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle...will stall north of
the region today and weaken on Sunday. However..a slightly
stronger front will push through the plains on Monday and cross
the Red River Monday night. Lift along and behind the front will
bring some low rain chances to most of North Texas through
Wednesday. Unfortunately...circulation around Ike should keep Gulf
moisture shut off from North Texas and a soaking rain is unlikely.

The next front is prognosticated to arrive Friday morning. This front
should be a bit stronger than the front early in the week and will
push through the entire forecast area by Friday afternoon. Again will
include some low probability of precipitation along and behind the front but moisture will be
questionable again.

Expect high temperatures to warm a bit above seasonal normals
through the first half of the week with highs generally in the
lower and middle 90s. Temperatures will cool a bit Tuesday with
increasing cloud cover and weak cold air advection. After a short
warm up from middle to late week...expect a notable cool down Friday
into Saturday.

Other than cutting off Gulf moisture...Ike should have no impact on
North Texas through the week. 79
