Synopsis For Keys Coastal Waters From Ocean Reef To Dry Tortugas-
Synopsis
Strong breezes will persist into early next week as a large area of high pressure near the Carolina coastline builds southeastward. These strong breezes...along with occasional to frequent gale force wind gusts...will be responsible for hazardous boating conditions tonight into early next week. Winds will begin to decrease and seas will begin to subside by Tuesday afternoon. The approximate shoreward edge of the Gulf Stream current...as of November 6th... 35 nm south of Dry Tortugas light...on Loggerhead Key. 32 nm south of Cosgrove Shoal light...off the Marquesas Keys. 13 nm south of Sand Key light...off Key West. 4 nm south of Looe Key...off Big Pine Key. 6 nm south of Sombrero Key light...off Marathon. 2 nm southeast of Alligator Reef light...off Islamorada. 2 nm southeast of Molasses Reef light...off Key Largo. 2 nm east of Carysfort Reef light...off Ocean Reef. Southeast winds near 20 knots...decreasing to near 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas beyond the reef 6 to 9 feet...subsiding to 4 to 6 feet in the afternoon. Seas inside the reef 2 to 3 feet. Nearshore waters rough...becoming a moderate chop in the afternoon. Scattered showers.
